WSU Pandemic Plan

WSU has in place an all-hazard Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) which addresses responsibilities and actions taken in the event of a major event or disaster that will affect the campus. The EOP will be a guide in decisions with regard to an avian flu outbreak and any other pandemic that may afflict Utah and/or WSU.         pandemic_image.jpg

Emergency Operations Plan

Weber State University’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) outlines a strategy to cope with hazards that threaten the campus, as well as the concept of operations and management of critical resources in response to potential emergencies. LeBlanc.pngOn behalf of the men and women of the Weber State University Police Department, I welcome you. This website has been designed to introduce you to the various programs and services provided by the WSU Police Department, and to provide you some basic crime prevention tips so that you can avoid victimization. 

 Utah Criminal Code 76-8-708 and 53B-3-105 authorizes higher educational institutions to appoint police officers. Weber State University’s Board of Trustees exercise that authority in establishing our department.

The WSU Police Department provides complete police services for the university community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our office is located at 4060 Tyler Avenue, which is directly northeast of Promontory Tower. WSU officers have state police authority on any property owned or occupied by the university and on any street, highway, or interstate in Utah. As such, WSU officers are responsible for the investigation of all criminal offenses and vehicle accidents occurring in and around campus, and for enforcement of all traffic regulations.

All WSU officers are certified graduates of the Utah Law Enforcement Academy. Though our department is obligated to discharge its law enforcement functions as a means of preserving a safe and peaceful community for academic pursuit, we have not forgotten the caring, human elements of our services profession.

I welcome your comments and suggestions regarding our department and our services. Our officers are available to provide demonstrations and discussions on a variety of topics. We look forward to being of assistance to you during your stay at WSU and welcome the opportunity to be a resource for you or your organization.

Did You Know?

We want to remind all drivers on and around Weber State University to be aware of the marked crosswalks. With the large amount of pedestrian and vehicular traffic, it is important that both drivers and pedestrians take an active roll in looking out for each other. Failure to yeild to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk will result in a citation. (UCA 41-6a-1002)

Sidewalk Policy

The use of skateboards, bicycles, scooters, or any "human powered device" is prohibited on campus in accordance with WSU Campus Policy 5-34a. It states "The use of rollerskates, skateboards and bicycles on campus sidewalks is prohibited." and outlines possible sanctions that offenders can face. Weber State Police urge all students, faculty and visitors to please read this important policy by clicking the link above.

Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act

In accordance with the "Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act" (amends 42 United States Code 14071), the Utah Sex Offender Registration Act (77-27-21.5, U.C.A.) requires notice to be given to institutions of higher education of persons required by the act to register and who are affiliated with the institution. The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act is a landmark federal law, originally known as the Campus Security Act, that requires colleges and universities across the United States to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses. The law was amended in 1992 to add a requirement that schools afford the victims of campus sexual assault certain basic rights, and was amended again in 1998 to expand the reporting requirements.
